When will my child exit the ESOL program?

 

Exit Criteria Kindergarten-2nd grade

1. Score as an Fluent English Speaker on the IDEA test and score proficient in reading and writing on the Comprehensive English Langauge Learning Assessment. When the child exits the program their academics will be monitored for 2years to ensure student success.

What happens if my child only meets one of the requirements?

The ELL committe will meet to determine if the student is academically prepared to exit the ESOL program.

 

Exit Criteria grades 3-12

1. Score proficient on the reading and writing section of the Comprehensive English Language Learning Assessment

2. Score a 3 or above on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT).

If the student meets only one of the requirements the ELL committee will meet to determine if the student is academically prepared to exit the program. Once the student exits the program their academics will be monitored for 2 years. If there is a decline in the students' classroom performance or test scores they may be reentered into the ESOL program or other academic services.(This applies to all students k-12)

ELL Committe:

The ELL committe may consist of the following people; Administrator,ESOL teacher, Home language teacher, Classroom teacher, Guidance counselor, Social worker,  School psychologist and parent/guardian.
